What waste to use:

Stone free standing basins do not have an overflow. This means you must order an unslotted basin waste. Any basin with an overflow will require a slotted basin waste. Ideally, order a waste with a longer shaft, at least 107 mm long, if the basin is going to stand on a granite top.

What taps should I use:

Well, you can use any type of tap, however, for practical reasons we recommend using only a ‘high’ basin mixer or a mixer (undertile type) and spout that comes out of the wall. Never use a kitchen sink mixer no matter what your mother in law said (even if she is paying). The reason is that the lever of kitchen sink mixers are too low and will be behind the basin (below the rim) making it very impractical. That is why the are ‘kitchen sink mixers’.

If you do fancy a kitchen sink mixer make sure that the lever is at the top of the mixer and not at the bottom.

Aerator waz that?:

The aerator is extremely important when using raised basin mixers in flat or flat-ish basins (I mean basins with a depth of less than 150 mm). A good tap will have a good aerator installed at the end of the spout. This will soften the splash of the water in the basin causing less of a mess around the basin when washing your hands. In a certain way you will also be using less water. The water feels more bubbly coming out or the spout. It is extremely important with the Magpie and Liscio basins.
