Ceramic drop-in bathroom basins (also called recessed or counter sunk) bathroom basins require either a vanity or floating top to be mounted in.  They are not wall hung. Most drop-in bathroom basins have three tap holes which can be punched out by your plumber depending on the number and type of taps that are being used. When basin mixers are used, that allow for hot and cold water to  be mixed, only one tap hole is required.  When pillar taps are used two holes are made, one for cold water and one for the hot water tap. Note, if you are using low pressure geysers, or gravity fed hot water systems, you must use separate taps for hot and cold water. The reason is that the pressure for the two water sources are not the same and mixers tend to favour the source with the highest pressure. Gravity fed hot water geysers are mostly found in very old houses. Don’t confuse deck mounted or drop-in basins with undermount bathroom basins, they are not the same. Undermount basins have become very popular in Europe for good reasons and it is spreading to South Africa. The same can be applied to undermount kitchen sinks.
